Does the morning after pill really work. How exactly do you use it and how does it work? Is it really as effective as everyone says it is? Thanks.

It does work! But remember you are still killing your baby!! that really isn't something you want to do.There are a lot of emotions that come with this that will haunt you the rest of your life.
Please be smart use birth control so you never have to go through this. The baby has the right to live.

This is what I learned 3 weeks ago in my 10th grade biology class. We just finished the unit on reproduction which includes birth control. The 'morning after pill' also known as an emergency contraceptive by more intelligent people, is a hormonal form of birth control. Like the second response to your question says, it makes it so the egg can't stick to the endometrium, the lining of the uterus. That's because the production of the hormone, estrogen (or maybe it was progesterone) has been cut back, this hormone is what rebuilds the endometrium after periods. You used to have to go see a doctor before using the morning after pill, but you can now get it over the counter. However, you should NOT take it regularly because, (similar to if you take painkillers too often like Advils it will wear out your liver or kidneys, one of those organs that processes food, and also like laxatives will wear out the pushing muscles in your intestines) it'll wear out your uterus, and really screw-up your hormones. Also, it gives no protection against STDs. It's mostly used for incidents of rape, or if someone just forgot to use other forms of birth control. So basically, only use in an "EMERGENCY" hence the name emergency contraceptive. But to answer your question, yeah it is highly effective (in preventing pregnancy).

The morning after pill stops the fertilised egg from attaching to the womb wall. there are other side effects as well, probably best to consult a doctor or pharmacist about.
it does work in almost all cases but i dont believe there is ever a sure fire answer for that sort of thing.
there are, of course, moral issues associated with birth control as well.

also in response to yader's answer, it is a single dose pill.

It is actually a strong dose of the birth control pill. It prevents the fertilized ova from attaching itself to the wall of the uterus and becoming viable.

Unless you're over 18 - you shouldn't even be thinking about having sex and, therefore, do not need to worry about a 'moring after pill'.

It works if you use it correctly. Check the box and read the instructions. Just remember that it is quite dangerous. Try to avoid using it at all! I heard that it can make you sterile (just like abortion will) if used more than your body can handle. Everybody is diffirent so it will affect every person diffirently. Good luck and be carefull!

I totally agree with G.N. It's time we take responisbility for what we do! Killing a baby doesn't solve anything! I have known a few people who had abortions years ago and are still dealing with it.It never goes away.I haven't met anybody ever who has said I am glad I did it.Only regrets!
