mother nature never intended for this to be a surprise, but 99% of the time, it is. Since the girl has never had one, it is difficult to tell her what to expect...and most of the time, she does not know it is coming and is usually ill-prepared for supplies...try the link below for more 411

I found that a good inication is if you are of an average build when you get to 7 and a half stone this was true of me. Also your breast should have stared to develop in th past 12 months. Often your mothers age if not a very good indication. But anyone can start between 9-18 with 12-15 being most common i was 15 and i thought it was so late but now i makes no difference on the way your body turns out. Always be prepared for your period and ask a family member if you are concered about anything. Hope everyting goes well sweetie xx

Yes. After she starts breast development, not neccessarily fully grown, menstruation follows. Earliest ones starts from ages 10 or 11, majority 12-14 and late ones 15-16. If she still doesn't have her period by the age of 16, she should see a doctor. ;)

I know this might sound horrible but both my girls got a pinkish discharge in their undies and it was only a few weeks after that they had their first period, but now they both get cramps and mood swings.
It will happen when her body is ready, just make sure you have all that she will need and that she knows where it all is and of course she should know whats gonna happen to her.
I got told nothing and thought i was gonna die.

There are symptoms that appear including mood swings, skin can become more oily/prone to spots, breasts may become tender, stomach slightly swollen, cramping in the back/stomach - all these are due to hormonal changes happening in the body and usually signify the onset of menstruation.

I never had anything going on with me before i started the very first time. My stomach did not hurt or anything like that now that happens before i start.
I just started one day and that was when i was 11 years old.

With some people yes, others no. The thing about mother/sister/grandmother doesn't always work. I know someone who was thirteen, but their mum was 11. However, I also know a fourteen year old who hasn't yet and her mum was fifteen.
