Where to make friends in Herts??

I am looking to make new friends since i've moved away from my home town and reallly want some girly mates to go out with, i'm finding it so hard when i don't know where to go, i'm still travelling to see old friends but would be good to have local people to pop round to... any advice welcome.

Go in pubs or any public place often, let people notice you and be as friendly as possible, especially to girls.
