Generally if you are entitled to free National Health Service (NHS) treatment :-see http://www.solent.ac.uk/welfare/internationalsupport/resources/healthcare2005.doc
you can obtain free contraception in the UK, ( this includes both condoms & the Pill). This applies only to UK residents
.
Certain NHS treatment is free to anyone:
* Emergency treatment (but not follow-up treatment)
* Treatment of some communicable diseases
* Compulsory psychiatric treatment
See web ref. above for details

Yes my friend takes Yasmin and she has it for free from the dr. Although i believe Drs dont usually hand out Yasmin as a first choice of pill, they usually go for Ovranette or Microgynon etc depoending on the person. Apparantly it works better for some body chemistries, apparantly it contains DRSP which is different to other contraceptives. I think it has reduced risks for those who may not 'agree' with other contraceptive pills. And i know that my friend takes it coz she is slightly overweight and the other pills made her blood pressure shoot up.

Talk to your dr about it but as long as u are registered with an NHS GP you can get contraceptives for free, if not you may have to pay around £6 (£3 in Wales) for a private prescription.

All contraceptive pills are free in England as long as you are a registered with a GP. If its on a private prescription you have to pay what it costs
Yasmin is the most expensive pill, is there any particular reason why you want that one. There are many others that are used more frequently & so we have better knowledge of side effects/problems
