I would say it can be appealing only if a man in a very good shape.
I'm from Europe and small speedo's are normal on the local beaches no matter how old the guy is or if he is in a good shape or not. Fortunately, we don't have that many overweight people because we walk everywhere and don't really do fastfood that much, local food is much healthier.
I remember when I just moved to the US it was very strange to me that guys are wearing long shorts and call it a swimwear. Than it looks pretty stupied when they take they clothes off: butt and legs all the way to the knees (some of them lower than that) is blueish-white.... LOL How this can be attractive?
I always teas my american boyfriend after a week of vacation. :)
So personally I don't think spandex pants look silly or stupied only in case of overweight bodys in it. I think guys need to think before wearing spandex, just look in the mirror and ask yourself: are you in shape?

It's gross. Because you can see his d--- showing through the spandex or bike shorts. Sorry about the crudeness.

YUCK! except a guy is cycling i'm no longer able to stand those tight issues. they seem large on bikers yet on the well being club they could desire to be ditched they are gross. and what women human beings wears her baithing suit OVER a pair of those issues. and what women human beings even wears them interior the 1st place. i play soccer and we are all wearing them decrease than our shorts now so we are able to slide handle and not something shows...as long as they are not seen from the exterior they are nice by way of me!

i think it because when a man wearing shorts, his body looks unbalanced.. it become more obvious when the man wearing it with big shirt..

for me it kinda look gayish ;)
especially if they are over their projected body weight.
it also make them look less than a man, the only way they could pull it off if they were a body builder!
PLEASE DONT DO IT!
