Personally I think it's wrong. They shouldn't be sapping up welfare for people who need it. I think the government needs to seriously ban teen moms from being on welfare as in my opinion they don't deserve it. Do you live with all those other girls? Just pay for yourself and your kid and don't give a cent to those other girls. Then when they get thrown out for not paying rent they'll regret not getting a job and saving themselves until marriage.

There is no shame in taking Government benefits if you actually need them. there is (or should be ) however shame in just living off of the government or child support or much worse, having a baby just so you can freeload. I am currently on WIC and Medicaid. Both my husband and I work full time but without these programs I really don't know how we would be able to afford the expenses of visiting the doctor every week much less delivery. These programs are here for a good reason and too many people just take advantage of them. I feel if you are eligible and need the programs, then get on them BUT only as partial assistance, it should in no way be your means of survival.

I think anyone can make a mistake, getting pregnant is possibly the biggest you can make at such a young age. I agree that most young girls seem to get pregnant just so they can be lazy and get everything handed to them on a plate.
I made a decision not to have children until I was in my 30's so that I could provide for them myself, I had worked full time for 16 years when I had my daughter and all I got was a measly £62 a week for 12 weeks - these girls have never worked and never paid anything in and yet they get more than I did!!
Good for you for not going down the same life path these imbeciles have chosen for themselves!!

Just because some of the girls do that doesn't mean that all of them do that. I am pregnant and I am 17, well...I'll be 18 tomorrow. My fiance (23) works 12 hours a day to get what we have, we don't live off the government. No, I presonally don't have a ob, I did before I got pregnant but then I started having problems and I had to quit. I am just tired of being put w. all the other teens that are irresponsible and freeloaders and don't know who their babies dad is. I am sorry they feel like they should be lazy all their lives and not do anything w. it but I am not one of them. Not every teen mom is a freeloader.

I can totally see why you are so angry. But look at it this way, everybody has to contribute something to the next generation, in the case of those young ladies apparently all they feel they have to contribute is numbers. When you are retired, those babies will be the ones working to support you.
I know it's not much consolation now, but really, a life of living on benefits and popping out a baby every few years. Would you want that? Don't be angry with them, pity them that they don't have your drive, your ability to support yourself. In years to come when you have a nice home and a family they will probably still be living on benefit.

They probably don't have any good role models in their lives. My mother had me at 16 and hasn't regretted it one day on my almost-40 years. She only used assistance for just a little while (not years) while she got her GED. I heard that they stopped giving additional money for more kids; I hope that it is true. We had a young lady who was on the "welfare to work" program and she only lasted two days! I get angry when I see young and healthy people who think that the government owes them a living when they haven't even contributed anything yet!! (Steps off soapbox....)

I agree, it's different if you have a working partner or you want to be a full time mum and can afford it in other ways but choosing to live on benfits forever GRR
I am 34 this year and I, like you, have worked the feathers off my **** so that these young girls can stay home with their babies. go figure.

Well blaim most parents here who are convinced all teenagers are children and never get pregnant so dont need proper sex ed or parents getting them on depro injections
Who then start accusing those trying to do something about it of perverted interests in kids.
Simply as suooprt proper sex ed and pointing out that teeangers are clearly doing it if getting prengnant.
Why would anyone want to be unemployed with a kid... no fun, cant party or go out or on holiday

I TOTALLY AGREE! Why don't they want to leave a mark on this earth? Why don't they want the best for their children? That is what I do not understand. If I were pregnant, I'd do all I could to give my child the best life it could have without me giving it up. If they are going to do that, why don't they give the baby up for adoption? That would be a much better decision, because when you adopt a baby you WANT a baby because you can't have one. Not because you want to sit on your butt all day. And the worst part is that WE are paying for them.
