Well, the second option sounds like the easier one of the two, but in terms of your own self-worth, the first option is the better one - and in the future you may be able to move up in the work & potentially earn more money.
If you are on the dole now then give the job a chance for 6 months & see how it goes.
Otherwise you wont know which is the better option if you don't give it a go.

It depends how much more than £100 'plus' means. When you lose your Housing Benefit and Council Tax benefit, you could be out of pocket by taking the job. It's an age-old dilemma.
But bear in mind that if you unreasonably refuse a suitable job, you'll get chucked off the dole anyway. The fact that the wage isn't very high doesn't make the job unsuitable, as far as they see it.

With £100 pounds a week you should be entitled to quite a few benefits, you may even be able to keep the housing benefit. I have been unemployed and for me working gave me back my self esteem and spurred me on to get qualified, I wont divulge my actual salary but suffice to say it is now a lot more than £100 per week. My advice would be to find out exactly what you could claim before you make the decision, you need to know you will be able to survive (don't expect luxury at this stage). A job any Job that you stick at will give you the kudos with good employers who if you play your cards right will train you help you get a decent qualification and maybe promote you to places you can only dream of right now. Give it serious consideration and go for it if you possibly can.

I see your point. It you get a job though you might only earn £100 now but in years to come your job experience etc will anable you to earn a lot more than that... alot more than you can get on the dole also...
Its easy to claim dole and get your rent paid but will it ever get you all you ever wanted!

Take the job and also claim all the benefits you are entitled to. Then use that job as a ladder to a better job. Being long term unemployed is the worse recommendation for getting a good job.
You will also lose the habit of work and you will spend the rest of your life at the lowest possible level. Surely you owe your self something better? Take the job woman, take the job.

Well you could stay on the dole and get your rent paid for you, but then all us workers who work hard to support our families and pay our way will end up supporting you through our taxpaying money!! So, you should have respect for yourself and for everyone else that works hard and go earn £100 and begin to pay your way. You will gain a hell of alot of respect that way, much more than you will sitting on your backside. Good Luck x

£100 a week is not enough to live on if you have to pay full rent. However, as a low-income earner you would be entitled to help with rent and Council Tax. Make sure you get all the help you need, because sometimes you ARE better off being unemployed, unless you have a job with a high wage.
Ignore people who call you lazy for being unemployed. They're ignorant arses who could one day be unemployed themselves.

The low wages some employers pay is a lot less than you can get on the social, taking your rent and council tax, your own allowance into account is it worth going to work for 100 pound +. ''Not on your nelly''
