Recovery depends on how much disk activity you have had since you deleted the file. Emptying the recycle bin only removes the file system pointer to the file. This doesn't "erase" the file, but just lets the operating system know that the disk space is available for overwrite if needed. If you recently deleted the file and haven't stored many new files, chances are that you can recover using a program like Recover My Files (link below). I was able to use that application to recover files after doing a format of the hard drive.

www.download.com for recovery software. However, there is no guarantee it will work - if the computer has already re-used that part of the hard disk, the information is gone.

The whole point of the Recycle bin is to give yourself a second chance to retrieve the data you threw away. Never empty it unless you are 100% certain you don't need it!

Oops! It MAY be possible, providing it hasn't already been overwritten. I've found PC Inspector File Recovery to help - sometimes.
Good Luck!

There is a new piece of free software that has just been released by Piriform (they are the people who provide the excellent CCleaner.)

I haven't tried it myself as I have had no need to do so.

Surely, it is worth a look?

No, I don't think there is, unless you had a copy of it in another folder, or a hard-copy.
