I had my computer for about a year and all was fine then my DVD drive wouldn’t recognize any disks & is not recognized by the system. I called Dell and they walked me through a hundred different options to fix. Eventually something worked but now a year later (almost to the day) I am having the same problem. Any ideas y this is happening and how i can fix it on my own safely (warranty is up)?

If it have been me, i might attempt do a firmware improve on the force. pass to the producer's internet site for the force and hit upon your force (examine on dvd force for right kind), then pass to the downloads and notice if there's a extra recent firmware available. acquire and re-flash the units firmware. I somewhat have carried out this as quickly as on a dvd rom force that does no longer study discs, and later on it labored completely!

If it isn't the DVD drive..it might be bad...than what I would do is first tsee if there is a firmware update for that drive...than I would try to go into Device Manager and go to your DVD drive and uninstall it and reboot..your puter should rerecognize it and load the default drivers for it!

Check to see if the BIOS can see it. If it doesn't, then enable it. If it doesn't see it then, then it is probably dead.
