More often than not Scotland does not have full size three lane motorways and even when it does they are only for short stretches. Should we not be building a 21st century road network in Scotland ?

More to the point doesn't Scotland need proper motorways that connect ALL it's major cities - let alone 3 lane hiways.

However, the A720 (Edi bypass) desperately needs 3 lanes as does the M8 (why does the Livingston stretch get 3 lanes?).

However, the councils and Scottish Exec's answers are always about adding additional public transport and then not actually doing it.

Not really. I don't see why we need them. We certainly don't need the cost of building them.
Sure, we need them in SOME places, but those are few and far between (like round the cities and connecting Glasgow and Edinburgh). Elsewhere there's simply no point. You might as well waste the money on building a bridge to Shetland.

yup without a doubt. just look how dangerous it is when lanes are closed and traffic has to pass each other each way far closer than would be the norm.
