are they too stict. Personally I find them stricter than TV Standards. There are many violations being served that would not be bleeped on TV

There are also moral vigilantes out there who take great pleasure in being the Yahoo watchdogs.

What do you think?

I can think of one right now that should not be on here, but will not say her name, but I think as long as you are careful what you post you should be fine, I haven't seen anything for you to worry about. Just keep being the nice one that you are and you will be fine. =)

My opinion is that they're quite easy to follow and understand. Anyone who's ever corresponded with newspaper editors knows that they apply standards that are quite similar, and that they don't print letters that are blatantly vulgar, racist, prejudiced or stupid.

In certain Answers categories, the ratio of intentional slurs and flames to mature, intelligent dialogue is probably 9 to 1.

That said, you have to remember where you are - Yahoo. This is a free worldwide forum, and Yahoo does not have the resources to adequately monitor or moderate it.

Some postings are unfairly deleted while postings and accounts by intentional abusers survive.

Makes one wonder why Yahoo even posts "standards" if they cannot or will not adequately and fairly enforce them.

I guess it's like that statement about padlocks "keeping honest people honest."

I think they are too strict. I had a long time account deleted because some of things I said were reported. They were not bad things but people arbitrarily said they didn't like them and my account was gone as a result. They are like speech nazis but what can we do.

Hey, Grassy, where ya been?
I find it odd that the standards only apply to some folk and not others.

They're a joke. I wish there was a Non-Yahoo Answers, but I haven't found one so far.

Not necessarily too strict, but misapplied, and rather black or white. You are right or you are wrong. No middle ground

I think that they should never attempt to censor anything...unless I woke up in a communist country this morning.
