They should learn the language in my opinion, they shouldn't be catered to by having interpreters. How are they able to read street signs when they are driving if they don't understand. I think it is dangerous on their part for all of us. Besides that why don't they want to learn it, I don't know if it is laziness, or they just aren't smart enough if these are the reasons, what are they doing here? Everytime my kids bring home announcements from school, one side is English and the other is Spanish, this just isn't right. What I can't understand is why people cater to them like that?

Personally I think that everyone should be required to learn the language most spoken in whatever country they live in. Speaking their native language at home is fine, but out in public they need to learn the language of where they live. I plan on moving to denmark and I'm going to learn danish. I'm not going to expect everyone to speak english to me constantly.

Yes, they should. Even to address a person in the street, to make a business, to work, it is necessary to talk in the official language of a country.

Nobody, of any nationality (including USA citizen) will be harmed by knowing another language, particularly because of the new globalization. More languages you talk, you have more resources to talk to anyone in the entire world.

Because we as a country are gutless. As citizens we are lazy, uninformed, and unwilling to make a stand. Every civilized country I know of has an official language.
