I've noticed the same thing, i.e. that some American people genuinely believe that America offers a better life than any other country. I find this utterly incredible given America's staggering crime rate, poor health system, inferior education system, and high taxes. Depending on where you're coming from, America might appear to offer a wealth of opportunities (and it has been good to many of my own relatives who have settled there), but all things considered you can have a better life in other countries.

I think America's long history of welcoming immigrants is part of the reason why Americans still believe their country and way of life to be something to aspire to. But the American dream is not what it used to be. No-one can deny that America has changed in a big way since Bush took office. In the present climate, America can only be attractive to those in desperate circumstances or to those already wealthy and successful.

In Arizona ALONE, we have 4000 Mexicans illegally entering every single day. Then there is California, New Mexico and Texas. The US embassy's in the Philippines, India, China, Eastern Europe and the Middle East are swamped with applications. I've seen pic's of the one in Manila and they have lines several blocks long. Don't blame the Americans. This is the facts. If you are so self-loathing, why don't you try to move to Holland and see how easy it is. You probably never even left the country. I suggest you test the waters out in Mexico and NOT a resort town and then you'll see why they risk life and limb to get into the US.

Immigration to the US is estimated to be 750,000-800,000 per year. And that is just the illegal immigration. Now add the folks that actually get a visa and come here legally. Wow! Over a million people move here each year. In less than 20 years, the US grows by the total population of Holland. Maybe that is why we think that people want to come here. DUH! I agree. I would prefer you to live in Holland also.

The whole world is not, but many people are. Why don't you invite some to live in your country so they don't over-run ours?

It would probably be because there is this constant flow of immigrants into this country to find a better way of life!
