Okay, breathe! You are getting yourself all worked up! Your issues are the same that many people have.

First consider speaking with your counselor to evaluate your issues. Perhaps you can get a tutor to get you over this hump. If you are all worked up and convinced you are failing, you are entering your classes setup for failure.

Try and relax, take a deep breath, take notes, record the class, etc. This way you can go back to the lecture.

Seriously. Nothing that is of value in this world comes easy. You can not even begin to imagine the doors that your education will open for you. It may not matter much now, but when you are settled in life, with a family, etc every penny will make a world of difference.

Hang in there and do the things that need to get done to help you. You have an opportunity that many wish they had, don't waste it.

Good luck!

Your first year is always going to be the hardest year. Not only are you being challenged academically, but you are dealing with a ton of other life changes.

Do you have an academic counselor? You need to go talk to them about the issues you are having. Chances are they have resources to help you get throught this. Or you might need to change your major. If you mess up your courses, you can always re take them. Yes, you could be put on academic probation but thatis better than quitting. Think about your long term goals...where do you want to be sitting in a year--in three years?

DO NOT DROP OUT. Quitting now will put you years behind and you will regret it. The things you are going through now are what a good percentage of other first years go through so you are not alone. Think of this stuff as the transition experience-next year you will have it much better.
