A points based league generally incorporates many more categories. You get points based on home runs, runs, hits, etc. You also would lose points for strikeouts by a hitter, possibly errors, etc.

A rotisserie league uses the same basic principle of 5 x 5 that you are probably used to from head to head, and you get ranked according to each category. For example, If you have the most home runs in a 10 team league you'd get 10 points. With the least amount, you'd get one point. After adding up all the categories (5 pitching & 5 hitting), your total points would be your 'score' for the year. In this example, you could reach a maximum of 100.

So, both rotisserie and points based leagues are similar in that they are annual scores, whereas a head/head league would be weekly scores, or bi-weekly during the playoffs.

Hope that helps.

Listen to the last answer but reverse what he said. Rotisserie is not like head to head, Points based leagues are like H2H. The rotisserie leagues you compete against everyone in your league in usually 5 catagories. 5 pitching and 5 hitting.

Rotisserie is the same as h2h. In point-based, you're competing against everybody all the time. Everything goes on a point system, rather than win-loss records. Personally, I prefer rotisserie. Yahoo's point system isn't that great.
