lewis hasn't looked off the pace till now but testing times are misleading at the best as teams try different setups with different drivers. Having said that, I don't think Ron Dennis es expecting lewis to win too much.
The strategy with McLaren has been very clear after Montoyo and in a sense they have taken a leaf out of Ferrari's book. Although Lewis is a rookie he is expected to push Alonso more than any other established driver had Mclaren signed one. Lewis can only get better and that is something Alonso and will be wary of while trying to outpace lewis early on in the season. Lewis job will be to get close if not beat ALonso as many times as he can.
This will be an interesting side battle but Mclaren will clearly back Alonso for the drivers WC.

Hi,I think that he's going to make mistakes, that's inevitable and although he has a lot of experience I'm sure he's going to be on a steep learning curve, and no doubt Mr coulthard will be complaining about him at some stage!,but I'm sure he will do well, maybe a win is a bit too much to ask but I'm sure we'll see him on the podium a few times, that's providing Mclaren don't have any reliability issues that seem to have dogged them over the past couple of season's, from what I've read I think that he will just get on with it and not worry too much about how well Alonso is doing.Should be an interesting season.

Well I think its a given, that he ain't going to be driver 1 in the team. So he will need to work hard to earn respect from his team and supporters.
Its taken button a long time, but now he's come out of the shadows and is doing great.
I do worry about maclaren tho, if their car will be competitive and reliable when compared to the new renault and ferrari.
Personally I will be routing for Button and I have high hopes for Hamilton. I supported Alonso last year, but now he's the man to beat with no schumi around now. It's guna be tough for anyone to knock him off top spot I reckon. I'm going to British Grand Prix this year woo:)

He has every reason to do well. He is with a great team, he has a great mentor in Ron Dennis, and an excellent example in Fernando Alonso. I doubt he will be running for the championship this year, but I would expect to see great things none the less. I can't wait to watch him race and see how he handles it. It should be great stuff this year.

Very well I think. The Observer F1 magazine has him with good chances... This year is going to be great - I'm a Michael Schumacher fan so will really miss him but with all the UK drivers we have this year it will be great to get behind them and support them. Can you imagine how great the British Silverstone race will be this year?

Provided he keeps his car on the black stuff I think there will be quite a lot of McClaren 1-2's on the starting grid and maybe a few at the end of the race this season.
