I want to use 2 sticks of 256 RAM. The HP website says I need 256 MB PC 100. Other sites says I need PC 133. I need the exact specs that would help to upgrade my computer...Thanks in advance.

I too see conflicting information between the Kingston and Crucial memory sites.

I think that you would be safe to upgrade using PC 133 memory and here's why:

Q:What memory goes into my computer, and will a faster speed be backward-compatible?
A: Because SDR memory is backward-compatible, you can safely upgrade your system with any of the guaranteed-compatible SDR speeds listed below.

See the website to show what "speeds listed below" were referenced to:

In most (notice I say most not all) you can use PC133 where the machine was calling for PC100. When your computer was built PC100 was the norm, then PC133 came out.

Generally you can use "the faster PC133" as it will run at the PC100 speed just fine. The main reason you might want to today is it is much easier to find thus priced a little lower.

Do get both sticks in the same speed dont mix them.

What does your user manual say about it ??? Chances are, if you talk to the computer guys at the store, you'll find out that some differing RAM sticks are compatible. However, I would not suggest mixing two different types of RAM sticks.

Also, I suggest you upgrade to 1 Gb of RAM provided your laptop will recognize it. However you do it is up to you.

Good Luck

it form of feels you have ddr2, so sure which you will and it will come out to around $ninety furnish or take. If which you will locate the money for it bypass alongside with 8g because of the fact the cost of ddr2 is already going up as ddr3 is taking on in spite of the indisputable fact that thats as much as you.
