Angela,
Ever hear the phrase "Good fences make for good neighbors"?
It's a matter of mutual respect for each others laws and sovereignty. It's a high crime in other parts of the world to illegally traverse a country's borders...one would likely be shot by a guard if say, one were to try to cross illegally into Germany. Seems nowadays that it's quite chic to speak badly about the U.S.'s policy to tighten the borders...but folks who do so vilify the U.S. for what other countries already do.

I think there should be some kind of identication card, for individuals who often travel from USA, to Canada, and vise-versa. The Canadians like their land, same as Americans. We just visit each other, and buy from the other. Canada is not Mexico. Canadians don't mind going home after their visits, and neither do Americans. However, Islamic peoples can enter Canada fairly easier, than in America. There have been terrorists peoples that moved into Canada, and crossed the border to attack Americans. This is unacceptable. Therefore, there needs to be a border.

There are borders between all countries...that is the way of the world.
And for all those who are concerned about terrorists 'sneaking' into the US from Canada...PLEASE GIVE ME A BREAK!!! You realize, don't you, that it is the American border patrol that let them cross the border??? It isn't the Canadian's responsibility to say who comes and goes from the US....

Being a citizen of one country or another means you are subject to the laws of that particular nation. You are subject to the tax codes and to the business and "moral" climate that spring from those individual laws.
If you are a Canadian citizen, for example, you have a right to health care based on your medical needs. If you are a US Citizen your access to medical care is based on your ability to pay, and not on medical need.
