BSE stands for Bombay Stock Exchange and NSE stands for National Stock Exchange - both are premier stock exchanges of India.

Different newspapers may be giving stock rates differently as a number of transactions take place in each stock on each trading day. At the end of the day, normally 4 rates are offered by the newspapers. They are the opening rate of a particular stock, its closing rate, its lowest rate and the highest rate during that particular day. Some good papers do indicate somewhere in the page itself that out of the four rates, which rate is what rate in a particular order. After a little effort, one comes to know these patterns and then read them with ease.

nse= national stock exchange
bse=bombay stock exchange

bse refers to the sensex of india.
once again,
sensex= sensitive index
it is in terms of points. Not rs. not dollar

when you read the news paper, you come to know about PE of perticular share and for some news papers you may come to know the 52week high and low also.

The base prise for equity share is of 10rs/share. Now if u purchase 1000 shares of rs 10each and after 10 days if the pe shows 12.5 it means that you have earned rs 2.5/share.

so you have earned 1000 x 2.5 = 2500rs in that specific period.

The names are given in alphabetical order. and the rates are given for bse-500. which is top 500 companies in bse. which varies from newspaper to newspaper.
