assuming your tax code is 503L like most. then your NIC and PAYE deductions for a month (not 4weekly) are

your tax free allowance would be £419.92
taxable pay (2500 - 419.92) £2080.08
tax due on 2080 = (440+17.60-21.51) £436.09

and again assuming you are not in a pension scheme your NIC is:
2500 - 420 = 2080 which is your NICable pay
NIC on 2080 (table method) is 229.02

making take home pay
£2500 - 436.09 - 229.02
£1834.89

i've used the table method which is what employers use and its provided by the inland revenue. i've also calculated your deductions on a month1 basis which is the NIC and PAYE you would pay for the 1st month is on cummulative basis. i've also used figured for 2006-07 which means it should vary slightly from the figures given if you're getting paid next month after the 6/4/7
theres a lot of factors to consider when working out PAYE and NIC like previous work pay, previous tax pre tax deductions etc

it up to you to decide if that's enough to live on based on your expenses eg rent, travel, food, utilities etc

I'm not too sure. It depends on the tax you're paying - if you have a tax code and whether you have kids, are married etc.

Usually, for that amount, all of your tax and National Insurance works out at 15 to 20% of your gross pay. With no tax code, you'll be paying 25% on tax alone.

I'm guessing you'll be taking home at least 2 grand per month.

£30k a year will be plenty to live on in the West Midlands. I reckon you will clear about £1600-£1700 a month at a guess.

We need further information, ie what are your personal circumstances, will you have a company car or other benefits?
What will your rent and other expenses be?
How long have you been in the UK and how long will you be staying?
