Eat lots of carbohydrates and fruit.
ie: potatoes, pasta, bread, hot chips, cakes, desserts and biscuits. Fruit has a lot of natural carbs and sugar, which will make you put on weight if you eat lots of it. Eat 5 to 6 items of fruit daily.
Also potato chips, gravies and any combination that includes carbs and fat.
Think pasta and cream sauces, sausages and mashed potatoes with gravy. All the yummy stuff.
Biggest thing: Eat well and / or your main meal at night. The body cannot use the energy and you will store it. But not too close to bedtime, or you will get heartburn and have trouble sleeping. Allow about 2 hours before bed.
If you need to put on weight, try to do it whilst still eating 'reasonably healthy' options.
**No good putting on weight and then having a heart attack..
Sample plan:
Breakfast: Milk based drink, ie hot chocolate. Heavy Muesli with milk. Fruit and yoghurt. Choose hi-lo milk, has more carbs than normal, for weight gain. Low fat will save your heart.
Morning Tea: Pancakes, or cake or chips or rice cakes with peanut butter. Or Fruit, Muesli bar. Milk drink or protein drink.
Lunch: hot chips or potato wedges and gravy plus bread roll, dessert. Juice, pref 100%.
Afternoon tea: sweet of choice, ie cake, ice cream, or more rice crackers with peanut butter or cheese. Or cheese platter. Or Fruit salad and normal fruit yoghurt. Or muesli bar. Milk or juice based drink.
Dinner: Main meal of day. Pasta dish with cream based sauce, think Italian or german, incl loads of vegies and bacon or meat. Or pizza, deep pan with the lot. Dessert of choice.
Snack: Potato crisps or cake or bikkies or fruit. Hot cocoa.
This is guaranteed to put weight on whilst still being reasonably healthy.
Remember your energy input must be more than your output. In other words, eat more if you excercise. Also keep up your water intake, you need to stay hydrated and healthy.

I have heard that certain foods and food combinations help you get up to your ideal weight:
The part of a potato just under the skin--meaning, don't peel the potatoes, just wash them.
Combining bananas with pears in the same meal.
There are others; I don't know how you'd find out, but maybe try googling "food combination therapy" or something like that.
Also, some people naturally put on more weight by eating fatty foods (just make sure it's healthy fats, Omega 3, 6, etc.); and others put on more weight by eating starchy foods. It's to do with blood groups or something.

I did it by eating Cheez-its (1 box in 2 days) and drinking 2 - 20 ounce bottles of Mountain Dew.

Eat more, but not junk food. Eat lots of vegtables and fruit and drink lots of fluids. Also excersize helps as it builds up your muscles. But dont gorge on junk food to gain weight, it will cause more problems. good luck

Fast foods is a good way. Eat higher amounts of calories. Cheese and pastas are also high in fat.
