I am working in a small Solicitor office. I have a law degree and am currently studying for exams to qualify as a Solicitor. I have been working for a few years in Solicitor offices and my role was very much dealing with clients, working on my own inititave etc. About 1 1/2 years ago I started my new position here and was told I was legal executive, that I had law degree so would be dealing with clients that he had a secretary and a receptionist so I would be doing legal executive stuff only - as I have in previous roles. Since then the secretary went on maternity leave and then came back for a few weeks and left. I have been answering the phone, opening post and when the receptionist is out I am responsible for all her duties. This has never been requested of me just handed to me and expected. There is someone else in the office who is training as Solicitor (she has done exams and she is not expected to do anything). Is he taking the piss or is it normal for your role to change?
