What are the effects of different Reality TV Shows, specifically Survivor, to its viewers?

A lot of people watch such shows, but what exactly do we get from them? Are the producers still doing double stunts? How do people audition for Survivor?

We get to be watchers instead of doers. They are doing their own stunts. At times, they tell you where the auditions are or you can write or e mail that show and ask when the auditions are being held.
