If Daylight Savings time was moved earlier for productivity/expense reasons, aren't we just turing on the heat an hour earlier before the sun comes up? This seems wasteful to me, not beneficial. Why was it moved earlier?

I am not convinced it is better. I don't think we should do it at all.

daylight savings time was disigned to increase producivity for the farmers way back when. it allows them take advantage of as much daylight as possible.
