It's a combination of 2005-2006. Hurricane Katrina hit our town really hard. I had never faced that kind of devastation on a personal level. Right before Katrina we got the diagnosis that my mom had inoperable lung cancer. She died in Feb 06. The reason it was memorable for me is that I learned a lot of things about people, my family, my friends and myself. When Katrina came through we had no electricity for 3 1/2 weeks. I learned that I cold do without a lot of the amenities I was accustomed to having. I learned that you can in fact survive a MS summer with no AC. I learned that under certain circumstances a cold shower feels really good. I learned to appreciate what I had more and to spend more time with my family. My mom was sick this whole time and I never once heard her complain about the heat, or the lack of power, or her illness.I learned from her that you can choose to be down and complain about your lot in life or you can accept it and move on. She chose to be happy and pleasant through all that and through her illness. So, even though I have some great moments, like the birth of my son, the worst moments of my life sent me away a better, stronger person.

the year I PLYED for the first time on the local bar in the chilly autumn evening , I am AN amateur jazz pianist. people loved my music , it was my piece.

I improvised on my theme. I felt real aliveness.

People liked it I liked it. hearing their applause I found the meaning of living alive.

the wholeness of me and my surrondings and if I may say with universe.

after playing I got out of the bar and I FELT the chilly autumn on my cheek ..

so fresh clean and sweet I felt alive as keenly as possible.

life is very short , but we can feel foreverness.

so up to now I remember that evening.
