Hi

Im 22 yrs old... when i was 19 i was raped and fell pregnant.. soon after i had an abortion. I had to go back to the surgery 2 weeks after it to double check there was no damage etc.. and they said i was fine

I just have this really bad feeling.. I have PCOS but i dont have the cysts.. just the hormonal embalance..

Me and my partner are using the withdrawal method at the moment (about to start TTC) hes 24...

I dont want any judging for my abortion... I did what i thought was best, and i dont regret my decision...

I guess no-one can give an excact answer... hmmm

No one should judge you. I am sorry for what you have had to go through.

I think it is impossible for an abortion to cause a hormonal imbalance 2 years after the fact. Ovaries are not touched during an abortion.

I read an article yesterday about abortion and the effects on conceiving again. The outcome after research was that unless you were damaged then there is no reason why it should cause any problems conceiving in the future. It may have a psychological effect i suppose as this happened to my friend. You did what you thought was right at the time and after a horrific experience like being raped who can blame you! Try taking Agnus Castus, its meant to be really good for regulating hormones. Why not go along and explain your worries about PCOS to your doctor? They will be able to advise you and possibly refer you for some tests to see that everything is working ok. My sister in law has PCOS and has a little boy so it is possible. I have been trying for 3 years for a baby and i know how much worrying can ruin your chances. You are only 24 so no need to panic yet, if it doesnt happen straight away you have plenty of years ahead of you to sort out any problems. I wish you best luck x

If the Dr's said you were fine after the abortion you should be. I am really sorry that you had to go through something so terrible!

Your PCOS may give you some problems! Are you taking any meds? The best way to increase your chances of getting pregnant with PCOS is to get your hormones in check. If you arent on any meds, talk to your doctor about them. Also working out and eating healthy are a huge part of getting your hormones back on track!

You may also want to get some ovulation prediction tests- with PCOS a lot of women dont ovulate- or ovulate at odd times. The OP tests will help you know if and when you ovulate- which will greatly increase your chances of getting pregnant!

I wish you luck!

If you are asking if your abortion will have anything to do with whether you will concieve or not I don't think it will. I had a late term abortion (labor and delivery) and a D & C afterwards, although I wasn't in any relationships for a number of years When I entered into another one I was on the pill when we first got married and 5 years later while still on the pill I became pregnant again. You don't have to apologize for choosing an abortion. Yes there are those who will try to make you feel guilty but only YOU know what was best for YOU at the time...no one else could ever possiblty make that determination...I say go for trying to make a baby...but don't try so hard that is the only thing you focus on. Focus on enjoying the sex and enjoying your partner...and have fun.

I know how you feel... same thing happened to me but younger....... now I have a beautiful little boy and had no trouble conceiving but I also had the attitude that if it happens it happens if it doesn't then it doesn't! Stress can stop you from conceiving so stop trying right now and instead of using the withdrawal method just keep going! But if your not sure of when your ovulating then this may help. When you ovulate your vaginal discharge changes to look like raw egg white... this means the conditions are right to try and conceive. If you have sex at this time then you should fall quite easily but don't get your hopes up too much.... just let nature take it's course... same goes for your guy too!

If an abortion was done in a sterile, clinical office, there are usually no problems. It is the equivalent of a woman having a D&C after a miscarriage, and many of them go on to deliver healthy babies, so try not to worry. Some people will probably bash you for having an abortion, but just remember, they don't know you and they don't know your life. Good Luck!

I have read that a single abortion that does not result in any infection or trauma will not increase your chances of infertility. The PCOS, however, can cause some major issues. It can cause you to stop ovulating, and also decrease you egg quality. Here is a forum that has a lot of great support and answers about PCOS and TTC. http://www3.fertilethoughts.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=38
The ladies there are great! Good luck!

Honey I wish I could help you but I don't understand about the PCOS and TTC what is that? And you are old enough to make your own decisions, you know what is right for you and what you should do...I to had to go throught the same thing, I was 38, I hated doing that but it was the right thing today at that time of my life, I don't think the baby would have been normal if I had went through it do to complications I was having at that time. I cryed for days, but I still did the right thing for me and my baby..

look dear what you did, was fair at that moment, I dont think you should have any problem to have a kid now, i would advise you to plan for a kid now.. if you feel that you might have any problems..so if it takes time you can still have treatment for eg. now you are 22 you can try till 24 and even if than you dont conceive u can have treatment and surely you will have a kid till 25-26 but if you try late it might be too late..

All the best.. nothing wrong with u so stop thinking all this stupid things and have a good & happy life

No im sure you havent decreased your chances of becoming pregnant by having an abortion. The doc said you was fine following your abortion so Im sure there shouldnt be any problems with you trying to concieve.
...Im sorry to hear about you being raped, keep your chin up girlie :)
Stop worrying and stressing and things will happen naturally.
Good Luck :) xxx
