By long-term I mean longer than a decade or more.....

JD - Unless you are a mind-reader and are a fully paid-up member of the Australian Psychic Association, you could never know what I'm *insinuating*.

I asked this question to give gay & lesbians a public forum to show off their life partners as being long-term, commited, loving people - who just happen to be gay.

Sometimes asking a leading question can lead to greater awareness.

I'm not judging by asking this question - I'm allowing voices to be heard - asking gays and lesbians to share their story.

Keep your defensiveness to yourself where I'm concerned in future. You can't get away with labelling people with me.

I had a relationship that lasted almost 6 years. Sure was hoping that it would last me my lifetime. Maybe there's some truth to the saying that " some good things never last." All hope's not lost yet. Still open to the idea that i'd be lucky enough to find someone to grow old with.

Definitely! I don't do short term. I commit for life. You should work at a relationship not bail out at the first sign of trouble. That is the problem with today's modern society. Every thing is quick, convenient and disposable.

It has always been my hope and dream to be in a committed life-long marriage to one guy. Sex with various people may be fun for the moment, but in the long run it is not emotionally satisfying or fulfilling.

Upon reflection and with regret, I must remove my previous answer as I did not properly understand the meaning of the question.

As for the quick a simple answer to the question as it was meant: yes, I have been and hopefully will be again. The questioner, hopefully will understand my answer.

I'm sure that wont happen for me, but I'd like it to. I'd prefer the long-term relationship over anything short-term.

Although I'm not currently in a relationship, I could picture myself in one for the long haul.

Are you serious? My partner and I have been together going on 2 years. We're planning on starting a family soon. She and I will be together "til' death do us part."
