Long and complex story... in a nutshell, it's because of a prophecy, as are so many things on "Buffy" and ""Angel".

Wolfram&Hart brought Darla (who'd been staked on "Buffy" by Angel) back as a human woman. She seduced Angel (the plan being for him to lose his soul and turn her back into a vampire).

Angel didn't lose his soul when they slept together (because she's not his true love, at least not anymore). Darla was quite offended. Wolfram&Hart brought in Drusilla, she turned Darla (but not until after Angel had talked her into not wanting to be turned anymore, but live life as a human, even though she was dying of the syphilis she'd almost died of 400 years ago, when the Master turned her.)

Chaos, mayhem and slaughter ensued - finally Dru and Darla left town (Dru went to Sunnydale to see Spike, Darla went to South America, as we find out later).

In the next season, Darla comes back - highly pregnant with Angel's baby. No one is thrilled. It turns out there is some prophecy about this. the baby cannot be harmed - which is why Darla didn't manage to get rid of it, no matter how hard she tried. It also turns out that Darla now feels as if she has a soul - it's the baby's soul that's influencing her. So she can't get herself to kill anymore.

Finally, Darla goes into labor (while they're being chased by Holtz, a vampire hunter from way back - Darla and Angelus killed his entire family, and he made a deal with a demon to come back 200 years later to seek revenge.

Darla realizes that the baby cannot be born from her, so she stakes herself, leaving the baby on the ground as she crumbles to dust.

After a few more complexities, fights and chases, Holtz manages to get the baby away from Angel and escape with him to another dimension.

Only a few weeks later in Angel's world, the buy comes back during a demon attack - but he's now a teenager, because time runs much faster in the demon dimension he grew up in.

Holtz has raised him to hate Angel and think of him as a monster - he tries to kill him a few times. Holtz is also back - he then kills himself but makes it look like angel did it to make the boy hate Angle even more.

Angel named his boy "Connor", but Holtz brought him up as "Steven" - so at first, he insists on being called that, but later changes his mind.

I'm not sure how much you have seen and I don't want to spoil coming episodes for you, so I'll leave it here.

He was conceived because "Jasmine" used him as a conduit to come to earth. She needed a mystical birth, and the offspring of 2 vampires fit the bill. But all the crap about that doesn't bother me in the slightest because it gave Julie Benz (Darla..Connor's mother) one of the best scenes I have ever seen on TV, the scene when Connor is born. Normally, (according to the show...and er..common sense) vampires, being dead and all, are sterile and cannot reproduce sexually.

Angels are created beings, Jesus is eternal and uncreated. The be conscious translated "firstborn" in Colossians certainly connotes prominence over all creation, no longer the 1st created being. in case you maintain analyzing the Colossians internet site you spot that each little thing become created via Jesus, yet Isaiah states that our lord god (i.e Jehovah created all issues). He is going directly to offer between the clearest defenses of Christ's deity (in Him all the fullness of the Godhead dwells) regrettably, the JWs that got here up with the hot international Translation knew no longer something approximately Greek whilst they tried to make the passage in good shape their theology that Jesus become no longer Jehovah, yet only the archangel Michael. extra nutrition for theory- in Revelation financial ruin a million, our lord god says that he's the Alpha and Omega, the Almighty; He says a similar element in Isaiah 40 8:12. In Revelation 22:13 Jesus says that He Himself is the Alpha and Omega, the 1st and the final. For an angel to call himself a popularity of Jehovah may well be blasphemy. Jesus IS Yaweh (jehovah).

After Buffy "died" Angel met Darla again & hooked up & got pregnant with his child.
Jasmine was one of "The Powers That Be" a supreme being who wanted to solve all of the world's problems by total enslavement of the human race.To enter this dimension she needed a "mystical event" ie Connor's birth to happen. She used her powers to ensure that Darla had her baby so she could become "human".

Darla staked herself to give birth to Conner. The living child of 2 unliving creatures. It was all in the "prophecy" so that Princess Jasmine could come from her alternate universe.

It a long complated answer it is explain in season 4 of Angel.
I would have to watch the episode to explain the whole thing, but it has to do with Cordial having her adult baby & giving birth to her self, her name was Jasmine.

i think it was another prophecy type thing, and darla was a bit mental at the time anyway, so i think that it all came out of that.
