Unfortunately the answer will depend on where you live, and when you're asking about. The prices of electricity and natural gas aren't really connected, so it can vary tremendously from year to year. It also depends on what kind of heating system you want - forced air, baseboard, floor? Also, the price of the equipment itself is important. Electric heating is cheaper to install but may be far more expensive to run. Gas heating can require ducting or piping installation, which is also very expensive, but may be cheaper over the long haul. You should call your local utility company to help calculate the relative cost.
On a pure efficiency basis, however, there's no contest: gas is far more efficient than electric heating.

Electric is cheaper to run, as we all have been hard hit with the big fluctuating high prices of gas, which also includes natural gas as well. I would go electric, I have used both. Gas also leaves a chemical in the air and so if there are any members in your household who have asthma or allergies , this is not good for their health. Go electric that is why most places these days are all electric, you have one bill to pay instead of 2 seperate for the same service.

Hybrid heat is the way to go. Gas furnace with heat pump. Above 40 degrees a heat pump is cheaper to run by far! When the weather is colder you always have a gas furnace to back you up. If your talking straight electric or straight gas, gas would be cheaper.

Natural gas is environmentally cheaper than coal generated electricity. But solar electricity is virtually environmentally "free".... you can combine that with your own wind farm and generate your own electricity or sell it back to the grid.... in which case it is far less expensive than natural gas.
Unfortunately there are too many unknown variables to answer your question in terms that impact on your hip pocket in your building. Having said this, LPG gas heating is usually more expensive than natural gas heating and where I live, reverse cycle air conditioning can be $$ effective compared to LPG heating. Also where I live, natural gas heating is less cost efective than subfloor electric heating, if you involve a well positioned thermal mass and take advantage of good solar access.... you hardly need to heat at all. As I said... too many variables... e.g. the climate, the access to resources, the availability of people capable of maintaining you selected systm, the source of electricity and so on.
Keep thinking about reducing you energy consumption... whatever the source... that's the key to saving money on heating your internal environment.

Gas is always cheaper! Also, tends not to dry the air out as much, so less of a need for a humidifier

Not only do you have to find out how many
Btu are in units of gas or electricity, you have to find out how efficient your heaters are and then find out the cost of a unit of gas and electricity, then make your decision.
A lot of homework before you find out.
