lol I can totally relate to what u are saying because I too have a bad phobia of injections!! Im 29 weeks pregnant and have had to give blood twice so far, it is essential but I dread it none the less. so far that is the only times i have had to deal with needles so its not too bad. Im trying not to think about the day i have to give birth, Im seriously tempted to do it natural and not go near the epidural. However, it might be so painful that i won't even notice that needle. I understand what u are feeling totally

Well if you are pregnant and seeing a doctor and giving birth in a hospital, it is just something that you will have to deal with. There is a lot of poking and prodding during pregnancy and delivery.
They have to take your blood for testing for things such as STDs and the RH factor and possibly for an AFP.
The needle is very small really and its a barely noticeable pinch.
Its not that bad I promise

I have had five children and never had a needle during pregnancy.
Is there a specific reason you expect to have needles because you are pregnant?

I used to fear needles too (although not as badly as you) until I gave birth to my first child and the needle I had following delivery to help the placenta expell was sooooo insignificant compared to the pain of childbirth I didn't even feel it.
I have not feared needles at all since.

So maybe after going through childbirth you will realise that the pain of a needle is nothing to fear.

Yeah needles sacred me, but now since I've been in and out of the hosp because of issues, I had to keep gettin blood test!!!!ugh!!! So now I'm kinda use to them lol. Still scares me every time but I am more at ease each time, unless the dr hits me ina spot that hurts. I try to think about something like the beach or something to do that day or I look at my mom which is usually with me and talk to her. At first I lay my head back and close my eyes, I try not to see ANYTHING they use to take my blood, and I DO NOT watch them take blood. It helps.

its ok!! They really dont do that many tests involving needles..only a few. Let your doc know you have a fainting prob..and also let the nurse know that will take your blood. They will have you lay down. Put please dont try and get out of the tests!! You do have the option of not doing ANY test you dont want to but whenit comes down to it you have to think of your baby. If they find something wronge they may be able to treat it asap. I think the worse is pissing in the cup everytime you go in

You have a nasty phobia, you will need to work with your doctor to get around this. Yes most likely you will need or want some pain medication at some point during the birth, however, it you work it out ahead of time, you and your doctor can get around this problem. LET YOUR DOCTOR KNOW.
You are not the only person that has this fear.

My best friend sue is the same way, man I saw her when she was pregnant, wow.... I would say ask your doctor but I don't think he can give you anything because your pregnant, I would just say maybe put some head phones (music) and listen to that or something to take your mind off of it, remember that it only takes just a second thats all. Im sorry I that second is a lifetime.LOL

It may not be much advice- but don't look when it is being injected- Doctors recognize that people do suffer from anxiety from needles- you could request being put on a local atheistic.

good luck

the best advice i can give is to look away and take slow deep breaths until its done, hopefully this will keep you calm enough to make it thru the experience in a concious state. good luck its all worth it when that little person arrives
