With the grace of god the last six counties will be reunited by March 28th- 2007.
McClean is correct in that initially it will be more of a shot gun wedding that a reunion, but over the long haul, a re-birth of the Irish culture.
The Republic is the second most successful member of the E.U. Northern Ireland under British domination is a virtual welfare state. Bringing this to a whole will in all probability be more difficult and costly than the uniting of East and West Germany.
An aside, before you assign all the causalities of the troubles to the I.R.A. Consider that half is the doing of the Unionists and their British MI5 handlers, still a concern in North Ireland policing.
Reparations if due should come from Blair and company.

No there won't be reparations. I'd imagine Ireland will be united within the next 50 years.
Many in the Republic (including myself) don't really want to join with the North because of its economic problems. If the Republic continues to outperform Britain and the North the gap may become too large for many in the south to support reunion.

It received't ensue. The British won't be able to provide back the North because to finish that could want to look to legitimise terrorist movements. I easily do no longer have self assurance that each member of any republication team may basically be quiet, that that they had be accepting each of the credit for it. Plus, as quickly because it does ensue it should not be Catholics scuffling with for a United eire, yet Protestants wrestle for a go back to British rule. that's basically 2 confronted coin. no count number what area lands, the outcome is a similar.
