I broke my leg snowboarding off my roof while drunk
or I had a bad case of hiccups
or A skunk got into the my house and sprayed all of my uniforms
or I was poisoned by my mother-in-law
or I blew my nose so hard, my back went out
or One of the walls in my home fell off the night before
or Just say I was sad

It should be that you are actually sick. If you aren't really sick, you should go to work. Your employer and co-workers are counting on you to show up.

"What should my excuse be for calling in sick? " I think you already answered your own question. "You are sick" - that is the reason

gastro, sore throat, conjunctivitis (?wrong spelling!!), sore neck- might not be good idea though as when I used it last I had to get medical clearance from work before i could return!!
