I have a GeForce 7300 GS video card and a 19 inch monitor. I have the nVidia control panel software but this just sends me to the usual 'display' control panel. I've tried 'showing all modes' in the advanced tab of the display settings and just can not find the place to give me the option of Increasing the resolution. Ideally i want to go to 1600 x 1200 or about that size. Can my Monitor and video card handle it? any help would be greatly appreciated as i have been tearing my hair ou trying to find the spot to do this.

Thanks

I've had the same problem before when I tried to go over 1280x1024.

If you try to set the resolution to 1600x1200 or something higher BEFORE you install your graphics driver, i.e. brand new computer, you can see that your graphics card allows you to go to a higher range, yet your monitor will most likely display "out of range" on your screen. I don't know which monitors can let you go up to the resolution you want, but it's most likely anything bigger than 21". Hope that helps.

your monitor probably cannot handle anything over 1280x1024, eventhough your videocard can... flatscreen monitors have set resolutions that are usually a lot lower than a same size CRT... find the manual for your monitor or look up it's specs online to find out...

your card can, but monitor may not be able too. your graphics card most likely only gives you options that your monitor can handle. i use an ati video card, and it will only give me resolutions that my monitor can handle. lcd monitors are getting pretty cheap now, look into some. its definitly worth it.
