If so many cultures children have fears of some being like this. Is there anything to it?

In the link you provided it seems like every culture has a form of Boogeyman,so there may be something to this.

We believe the boogeyman is La Chupacabra. Lots of people have seen him. He comes at night so lock your windows and check under your bed. If you see the red eyes run.

nope it is just in the heads of those that believe. grimlins are real though....ever lost your keys and looked right were they are found three or four times before they show up there?
Anyway the boogie men are in the same category as the monsters under the bed.

Boogeyman is a fantasy but there are a lot of people out there who are real and much more scarry then the boogey man. BEWARE!

no he's not real. Although, I do think creatures like vampires, werewolves or gobelins are real...
