If you are really into the music and sound quality, i would recommend you to take the HP Pavilion laptops. They've got Altec Lansing speakers, which are of really nice quality, and the laptop's design is quite beautiful. If you're really serious with the entertainment like movies, try checking out the dv9*** series, they got that nice 17" widescreens, but check out the dv2*** series if you don't like to carry around a large and heavy laptop, for the dv2*** series have a 14.1" widescreen. However, if you've got a lot of cash to spend on the laptop, check out the Sony VAIO, they're really beautiful and good, but just that it's quite pricy. Other than that, try checking out the Toshiba Qosmio models, they're designed for the entertainment.

Hi, I would buy a dell if you would like the best service after the purchase . I have owned a very nice Gateway but I did not care for the aftercare, if something happens after your year warranty then you have to pay them $20.00 just to ask a question to their customer service on the phone, and they want your credit card info like yesterday. It was only great while it was working which 14 months after purchase, in which 8 months of that it was not used, it quit charging and worse it could not get power from the plug in and if that happens it is a big deal as it is one part with the motherboard, money.( and this computer cost me $1400.00) I have a toshiba right now and I am not crazy about it, and I just purchased it a few months ago.Make sure you do your research on any that you are considering and I say you should purchase the extended warranty as repairs, just to take it in like comp usa to look at is &175.00 up front and that is not taken off your repair bill. I hope this will help you some.,also go to your google and and type in laptops, and also go to the websites for comparison shopping, so just type that on google too. I forgot to tell you mine now is a toshiba A105-S2081, and my Gateway was with the centrino, this helps in wireless and Just look on gateways website, dells website and toshibas, and HP.

For entertainment, any of the higher-end systems are best. As for sound, I recently bought a Toshiba P100-286 which has sound my Harman Kardon - I didn't think such good quality sound was possible from a laptop! It is comparable to what you would expect from the speakers in a decent TV!

Brand wise, I would suggest any of the following:
Sony, Toshiba, HP.

If you really want to go all-in for entertainment, then check out Alienware... but be prepared to pay a serious premium!

I just bought a Compaq laptop two weeks ago from Best Buy. It was only sale. You want to get one with the Windows Vista Premium edition (not the home edition). Also, with a fair bit of ram and memory. Mine was on sale for $450, regularly $750. It was an additional $100 off because I subscribed to the wireless internet service. Still, it was on sale. I love it. It is a Compaq Presario V6205NR model number.

Whatever you do, don't get a Gateway. I hear a lot of bad things about them.

You should go to best buy or one of the other similar retailers. The salespeople are usually very helpful and can walk you through the process of buying a computer that would best suit your needs. I personally like the newer HP laptops that have come out in the past year. If you go to any of the popular retailers (best buy, comp usa, circuit city, etc.) they should have HP laptops which model numbers begin with DV6*** these are really good and will meet your needs.

Get a HP, they cost less and provide you with all the needed equipment. Ask a dealer to tell you what programs it has. LOOK FOR A PENTIUM 4, 1G of RAM, 80 G Hard drive or better. Most come with onboard camera and wireless hookup. Make sure it has a DVD-/+ burner on it as well. DO not settle for a DVD/CD burner. Get the combo burner.

Toshibas have always worked for me.
PS. make sure it is a laptop NOT a Notebook
lots of people think they are the same BUT if you use a notebook on your lap they sometimes suck up bobles off clothes and overheat wheras laptops are made for this.

My husband and I and all of our kids and grandkids have Dell computers or
laptops. We find them to be really reliable. Talk to your friends and find out what
they use and how they like it. Buying a laptop or even a computer is a big purchase and needs to be carefully considered. Hope you find the one you want
and it is everything that you need.
