My partner has just bought a lovely new flat in West Thamesmead, situated by the river. It is an investment property and will be up to let very soon. The nearest station is Woolwich Arsenal, just three stops further away from Lweisham. But you migt prefer to be in Lewisham itself, and if you are new to South East London, welcome!! This is an up and coming area, with lots of re-development planned before the Olympics.
There is a property agent called "Indigo" in Woolwich, don't know if it covers Lewisham, but they might know of one that does.
