I felt early pregnancy symptoms and I was several weeks late for y period.
I thought nothing of this because I have had the IUD (non-horm) for 5 years.
My period started today and it was so severe that I was laid out in bed in tragic abdominal pain and lower back pain.
I have been soaking through a super tampax tampon every 1 to 1 1/2 hours for the last 7 hours. I have been feeling shaky and weak. My vagina feels full and heavy. I have small thick clots but I don't think they're fleshy. At first the blood was mucousy.
I loathe the ER, but I'm wondering if this might be a miscarriage and if so should I go in or just wait and se my doc in the am?
I would hate to admit myself if this is just a bad period.
I have experienced this a few times in the past and I just blew it off, now I'm wondering if maybe I've een getting pregnant and losing it due to my IUD?
My last period lasted for about 3 months.
Also, how long after a miscarriage will the preg hormone stay in my system?

I can't answer about how long the pregnancy hormone stays in the system after a miscarriage but pls see your dr in the a.m.

If you are noticing anything grey about that clot that is coming out that could be an indicator of a miscarriage. Pls save a piece to show the dr so that they can check it out at the same time they are finding out if you had a miscarriage.

If you have had one I'm sorry for your loss.

Whether it's an ER visit or getting into your doctor this morning, you need to be seen for the amount of bleeding you're doing. It sounds like it may be a miscarriage or just a horrible period. It may be time to try a different form of birth control if your body is no longer tolerating the IUD. If you did miscarry, a blood test called a quantitative Hcg can be done to diagnose it. Pregnancy hormones are still present for days to even weeks after a miscarriage. Hope all is okay.
