I just downloaded utorrent. (a program that can be used to download torrent's). After looking up some songs i want to download, i noticed that the files are a lot bigger than normal. For example, the individual songs appeared to be as big as 134mb!!

And thats not for video, thats for an audio only file.

Am i simply looking at the wrong site, or are they really this big? (most of my audio files are around 3, 4 or 5Mb).

Any help on this topic is appreciated.

That is not possible. i think you must have look incorrectly. It may be 134kB, which is just regular for torrent files. Torrent files are just links, not the actual files. Look at it again.

The audio files will be 3-5 mb per track. The file you are looking at is probably an entire album. Torrents are used for larger files in general as it is a very easy form of sharing but the system itself does not make the files any bigger than normal.

Bittorrent is especially useful for distributing large files.
That does not mean files must be big to be transported with bittorrent.
But it does mean that if someone has some very large files and wants to share them, his best choice is bittorrent.

So it sounds like you've picked someone who is distributing WAV files instead of MP3 files.
WAV files can be burned on to a CD with no loss of quality.
Check the filenames to see if they are MP3 - I suspect they are not.
