Hi,

I have a couple of freinds who are hard gainers and they have had success using this method...........

Basically to gain mass, regardless of how much training you do if your diet is not up to scratch you won't put a pound on.

Basically I'd avoid weight gainers where possible unless they are a high quality one as most are just full of sugar for the extra calories.

Wherever possible eat food rather than supplement as supplements are only meant to supplement when ever its not possible or unreasonable to eat 6 times a day etc.

Split Your meals into 6 meals a day. Ensure you are eating at least around 1.5g of protein for eack KG of bodyweight a day. Stick to that and weigh yourself after a week , if you haven't made any weight gain in that period inccrease your daily calorie intake by an extra 250 and repeat after a week until you see progress.

It is a simple case of to gain muscle mass you must create a surplus of calories then your body requires, its also the case of that when your "Cutting" You eat less then your body will need.

To ensure you gain as much muscle as possible make sure you are getting enough sleep each night (Around 8 hours if possible as this is when your muscle grows and repairs itself NOT when you train although the training is needed to stimulate muslce growth (Hypertrophy).

Also make sure you rest each muscle group AT LEAST 48 hours before training it again otherwise you will risk overtraining and actually stop any growth happening.

I do a 4 day split :-

Day 1 - Chest & triceps
Day 2 - Legs
Day 3 - Shoulders
Days 4 - Back and Biceps.

I also train arms seperately once a fortnight where possible.

It may seem crazy eating 6 meals a day but you will soon get used to it, a example plan is:- (This is what my freinds and I would use when bulking)

8.00am Oats with Fruit, glass of OJ and some low fat yoghurt and protein shake.

9.30am Weight Training.

10.30am Protien Shake and a banana.

12.00am 2 Chicken Breast with pasta and vegetables.

14.30pm Protein Shake and handful of nuts

17.00pm Lean steak, with brown rice and Veg

20.00pm Protein shake with Milk and banana.

You can adjust this to suit but it's important not to eat Fatty foods just because of the calories as they are not ideal fodos for building muscle and are not good for your heart either!

Stick to this and adjust the meal plan as you need to but you will definately notice results within a couple of weeks once you determine your calorie needs.

My training partner was rake thin and couldn't put weight on but by following a plan like this he has filled out well now.

You need to make sure you eat enough calories per day.
Make sure you have good food and a balanced diet.
Add protein shakes in the morning, before and after training and before bed.
Try to increase the amount of carbs you are eating as well, as those muscles will need carbs to fuel the exercise you are doing.
To be honest, anything you can get should give you pretty good results, if you are on a tight budget try to get something pretty cheap like body fortress products (in UK).
If you have a bigger budget maybe EAS, Met-RX or Maximuscle products. Try to find somewhere online that can sell it to you cheap in bulk, as you'll be getting through quite a bit of it.
