I think all evidence shows it is soon: all the chess pieces are in place. As Clauswitz observed, an attacker must attack soon if waiting puts them in a worse position.

It was supposed to be this Saturday, but the Irish in Congress gave it a thumbs down. It has been rescheduled for 1 April after lunch in DC.

I'm hoping even George W Bush isn't that insane to start launching missiles at Iran. I'm hoping also that Israel acts responsibly and doesn't uniltateraly launch an air strike against Iran's nuclear research facilities.

If they do, I don't think Iran's leaders are going to sit back and take it on the chin - they'll be after launching counter-attacks of their own, and then who knows what will happen?

One thing is for certain, I think Iran's missile program is a fair bit more advanced than Saddam's "Scud"s ever were and any conflict is in danger of spilling over elsewhere. If World War Three ever does happen, it'll have it's origins somewhere in the Middle East that's for sure.

Never,..... even the American government isn't that dumb. They may be stupid enough to believe in a 'pyramid scheme' approach to war (if your losing, expand the front in search of easier prey), but even they must know that taking on Iran with the state the Middle East is in, (not too mention the crumbling of fear and support world-wide) would be suicidal. They will defeat Iran's standing army easily enough, but after that they might as well just put their heads between their legs and kiss their bum goodbye.
I don't believe in the least, in Islam or America as the Great Satan. If America were smarter and more compassionate I might be on their side.
As it is, I just hope they don't create too many problems for me before the country collapses (which I fully expect to see towards the end of my life - hopefully I've got at least another 40 years).

Pakistan's Foreign Minister announced before a group of Diplomats of 24 countries including USA that his country shall support US in no manner... He did not say so, but, then, the next turn of devastation shall be that of Pakistan, after Iran. It is often quoted that someone has a Plan to destroy all Muslim countries by 1910! The 3rd W.W. can not be ruled out, then. Personally, I think that nothing shall happen. Iran shall be able to convince that its nuclear program is aimed at civilian use for producing cheaper electricity... not for WMD. Nuclear Bombs are of little usage in the present times.

Very unlikely.

Three reasons.

1) You can't bomb Iran out of its nuclear program, when you don't know where it is or when importent parts are 300m underground. Remember Hezbolla in Lebanon; with Iranian money they constructed very deep bunkers which proved very resiliant. Don't think Iran does not know that. Iran tipped them off to do just that.
Iran has been watching the news as well. It knows the value of deep underground facilities which smart bombs cannot penetrate.

2) Most likely, any action must be followed up by a ground action, or Iran will simply rebuild and start again.

3) Most countries outside the US and lots of people in de US are already sick and tired of the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.
Do you think Bush can rally support for yet another war??

What makes you say that or are you scare mongering?

If you think that this a likely hood then surely your question would have be when will the next world war start as that is what would happen.

Not let us go down that route but think positive thoughts for a change. I wonder if we all thought positive thoughts what would happen? Good things yes!!!

It will never happen dear friend! Why?
USA and all other weapon producers in the world need critical situations to sell their weapons. Iran is the best reason for other countries in middle east to buy weapons and accept USA forces in the area. India was the 1st buyer of military equipments in the world since 2004. Why? You know buddy!

There is no benefits in peace!

Why shouldnt they have a nuclear energy program? Who are we to tell them they cannot if we can?

We should be working with them to develop their program, or find an alternative for both them and the rest of the world.

This sort of co-operation between countries would lead us to a closer unity and bring better technology and living conditions to more of the worlds population.
