Very few of the individual vitamins are "unsafe" even at large quantities. It really comes down to the quality and bioavailability of the vitamins in the supplement.

A journal article published by the AMA is adding to the study data showing that synthetic vitamins aren't just useless, they might be bad for you.

Any multivitamin supplement should be made from natural food sources. The minerals should also be derived from natural food sources, instead of being made from ground up crushed rocks.

Additionally, the supplement should be standardized and assayed to ensure that the final product contains consistent levels of the nutrients listed on the bottle. Most products you'll find out there, do not meet any of these criteria.

I don't know if Centrum uses natural or synthetic vitamin E since it's not specified on the label. Natural vitamin E will begin will look like this - d-alpha (or d-gamma, etc). If it says dl-alpha then the vitamin e is synthetic and not even worth taking in my opinion.

Yes, why wouldn't it be? The only thing that may not be safe is overdosing on any one vitamin.
