Which works best? Ignoring or saying something witty back. I dont want to feed them but I dont want to be walked upon either.

Just ignore them... They'll soon loose interest if they dont get a reaction from you.

It depends. Are they likely to resort to violence? And if so it is likely they don't view as a threat. If you believe they won't do anything. It still doesn't mean you should say something. If you were to keep talking back they may eventually get angry enough to get in a fight. So to be on the safe side maybe only say something back when it is absolutely necessary. And make sure when/if you do it is not around any parent or teacher etc. If your a good student and they're not you're pretty much guaranteed to get away with saying something once in a while.

You need to be stronger than them. The only thing that bullies ask for is attention. Dont give into them and think about your goodness and strength inside. It might last a bit longer, (if it does always tell someone-even if it is a friend, or family), but they will soon figure out that they cant get to you that way. So theyll start picking on someone else.

A Bully is a person, man or woman, who don't have anything better to do then pick on someone they think is weaker then them. When I was 14, I was a lil' chubby guy, and this one guy(stone red-neck) just wouldn't leave me alone, even though my Dad was a Chief of Police in our town. Finally I just got mad and didn't care if he beat me up, and put a couple bars of soap in a sock. I still don't believe to this day that that soap could so much damage to someones mouth. When I went to my 40 year Re-Union, he saw me and went across the room. Life isn't always fair, but putting up with a bonehead has to come to a halt, or it will always be a bonehead around !! you can ignore which is always good, you can go with the always fun 'up to something smile" whenever you see them and watch them freak out at the office or where ever you are connected or you can give them some fun condescends full of wit and brain power with one or two large words and then laugh long and loud when they are to stupid to understand.
it is much funner to tell some one that you would rather kiss a muddy fat maggot than talk to them, people are to used to the swear word put downs it does not faze them but if you give them a true insult they dont know how to handle it anymore.
have some fun and dont let them get to you no matter how you choose to handle look on it from the outside, like they are the geeks or the stupid and you are just enjoying your life.
its the best way to get them is to be happy and content.

You're better off not saying anything that could cause more problems. Ignoring them could also be bad. The bible says a soft answer turns away wrath, so I would go with a soft answer.

i would say ignore.. dude your 20, you should do it in a mature manner, and plus it gets you out of trouble.. well it woudn't make it worse..
this may sound confusing but when you think about it, its the right thing to do: "GOD always said if someone throws you a rock throw back some bread.."
so just ignore, pretend they're not even there..
and they'll realize they're the freaks hehe

i think that ignoring them is better than commenting back. commenting back will just lead into a pointless and worthless fight. when i say ignore, i mean to stay strong and show them that they are not affecting you. show them that you are still as happy as you can be and having fun in your life. they will soon realize that they are being immature and will leave you alone. be the mature one and keep your head high. don't stoop down to their level.

Be witty and say something back if you are 20 that it is really stupid that this is happening so use it to your advantage

You need to do things to make their lives difficult, but somewhat anonymously. Drain the oil in their car, smear feces on the door handles of their car, put a gay personals ad online with their picture and contact info on it. You should watch the movie "Dirty Work" with Norm MacDonald.
