Don't get involved. Your manager is getting paid to manage, supervise and keep a check on things. Make the manager do their own work so that your's is not put in jeopardy.

Although you may be working with the colleague that is often not at work, for issue such as this, is best to stay away. Don't get involved! You do your job and let others do theirs. Let whoever asked you for the email knows that its not in your job scope to write report of this nature and its best to leave it to them to speak with this lady colleague who is often away from work. You gain nothing by writing the email/report.

yes i agree with MISS V. Dont get involved. You may get into trouble and not only that, you may also lose a friend once she finds out. Just tell your manager that you are not aware on whats happening in the office. And that you dont want to get involved.

That's one thing I hate about our jobs
D if you do, and D If you don't.
If you are Incharge.
You will be Monkey In the middle anyway.
I try to tell the truth. If In charge,
Have your Incident paperwork In order.
Date, Incident, time, and witnesses.
Don't e-mail. Type It. Make a copy for you
to have In a safe place at home to.
Make the same type Incident reports If action
Is taken against you.
