Considering we look to our Government for leadership and to project an image to illustrate to us all that the Nation is in competent, professional and safe hands, does their appearance on the front bench reflect this?
Do they present an appearance of achievement that our younger generation would want to aspire to?
Should Westminster have a creche that MPs can nip out to if they want a nap, rather than do it at a time that they are meant to be considering important ,far reaching issues, whilst under the scrutiny of television cameras and the British people?

No, they are not good role models, everytime I watch them, they are always arguing, fighting and laughing at each other and to think these people run our country.

I always thought that the cut and thrust of Politics was very interesting, until I saw it on TV.

The way the House is run is archaic and it seems that is the way they like it. I would much rather see the formality displayed in a different way.
The contributor who remarks it is like a common room is right, with some rhetoric deserving of the Public School farces.

However, I don't think this is the perogative of one side of the House. Both sides, including the Liberal Democrats have been known to 'debate' in a very peculiar way. What I am heartened with is the absence of swearing and any other bad language, something often seen on this site, and the obvious absence of those who transgress, being admonished for breaking the Rules of the House.

Having said all that, there is room for improvement. Yes, some Politicians think they are greater than others; perhaps they are but scoring cheap point in a place where this Country's future is managed is unacceptable.
It makes good TV but the majority of the Public who put them there is not of one mind.

The front benchers are gregarious people who, during their University days were used to this bad behaviour but, at times, don't you see this in everday life, more is the pity.

I am sure that, during the hours spent outside the main chamber (of horrors to some) there is considerable work done and so far we have enjoyed peace in our Country. Looking back at the Thatcher era, nobody imagined the Country would rebel in the way it did.

If the Members could only be civil to each other, work together when there is common interest and be firm with dictators, leave office in due time with the Country in better shape that what they had left to them, I am sure the answers to this question would be much shorter.

We are currently cursed with the most evil group of dissembling traitors ever to sit in Westminster.
They destroy our institutions, subjugate our culture and prostitute our sovereignty for personal gain. Old labour were completely wrong but at least there was some sincerity of conviction among their politicians. The current front bench are mainly motivated by greed and regard principles as the bargaining chips of personal advancement.

In my opinion the Government is too corrupt to be looked at as role models. If the corruption were cleaned up then yes, but as it stands now, no. If I could have children the LAST thing I would want them to do is have a Government Leader as a role model.

No. they play truant, non appearance in the house for spurious reasons. They claim expenses they have not incurred. They run personal staff for reasons other than secretarial. do I need to say more.

If they were members of the public they would be in jail for various offences, out of a job for skiving and if at school would have their parents in jail or fined for their non attendance.

Some roll model!!!!

I am not happy to say this but, the politicians are certainly NOT a body of people one should hold up as an image of honesty, competence, or professionalism.
