I have a top loading washing machine, is it necessary to use only top loading detergent or I can also use the front loading one. If so, why make two type of detergent soap when you can use one type for both? If not, what is the disadvantage of using front loading detergent on top loading machine and vice-versa?

I think you would be fine using a front loading detergent in a top loading washing machine. It's just not going to create the same amount of suds.

Just make sure you don't use a top loading detergent in a front loading machine as this can cause problems and can even void the warranty.

Front loading detergent is just less suds, Top loading detergent is more suds this is the difference, there is no advantage to one or the other, just that one will not make a lot of suds, you could use this one in your top loading machine if you want to your clothes would come out cleaner and have less residue on them and would be easily rinsed out of the clothes. Good Luck !

A front loader machine would cause a lot of sudsing action, so the front loader soap is made to not suds too much. If you use regular soap in your front loader, you could have too much suds. If you have too much suds, then the clothes don't get enough friction to actually wash them. It's the clothes hitting each other that washes them, sorta. If you have too much suds, the clothes are cushioned too much and they don't get the friction they need to get clean.

You could also cause your machine to overflow from too much suds.

If you use the front loader detergent in a regular top loader machine, you might not get enough suds.

Sorry I'm talking in circles. I'm handicapped and haven't gotten enough rest the past few days, but my information is accurate.

front loading detergent makes less suds since front loading washers use less water and can over suds easy if you put too much or the wrong kind of soap (that's why they came out with he detergent) if you have a top loader, don't waste your money on the he, go with regular.

I think the front loading detergent does not create as many suds - I may be wrong

lower amount of suds for front loading machines, I just use less of the top load soap. Front loading machines are popular now because they use less water. Therefore the soap for them is more expensive and they call it "high efficiency".

One washing machine company, many years ago, specified a single brand that was the only "safe" brand to be used in the washer. They went so far as to warn consumers to not use any other brand.

It was all about marketing. They had a joint venture.

It's possible there is a difference and it is possible that it is simply about niche marketing. In a world where a store has 20+ brands of detergent, one that is "just for your washer" is going to catch your eye more than the others.

That's just good product development.
