Cherrie is essentially right when she says:
--- spilt=british english
--- spilled= american english
More exacty:
british english = spilt OR spilled (spilt is the less common choice)
american english = spilled only (spilt is very rare)
You'll find other similar words, such as spelled and spelt. Americans use "spelled", only Brits use "spelt".

RE:
spilt or spilled?
Is "spilt" a word? I thought only "spilled" was the correct spelling, but was informed by a girl that it is "spilt" not "spilled"
Are they two different meanings?
