1- Motor rpm is depend on many factors like design parameter. New engines work in higher speeds.
2- changing gear box is a very professional job. ask factory service center to do that.

A small motor might run at 3500rpm at 90kph but that seems a little high. I had a 2 liter car that ran about 3100rpm at 100kph so with a 1300 or 1500cc motor its possible that 3500 is correct. Are you certain that the car is in top gear?

Top gear is usually direct drive, so replacing the 3 speed with a 4 speed would make no difference.

Are you still in second gear? 3500 rpm seems very high

4 gears would be better - almost an overdrive -
make the engine work less - and $ave$ ga$ monie$

Ye$$$$$$$$!!!! best of luck

Generally speaking, it's the final drive that's going to make a difference. If the four speed is an overdrive then it will help.
