Has there ever been a operating system made for the PlayStation 1?

like some kind of Linux for ps1.

if so, what is it called?

I'm not too familiar with the PS1 but I think they used Unix or something similar to it. PS2 and PS3, they both used Linux, which is pretty similar to Unix.

Playstation 1 and 2 had their own custom operating system like all gaming consoles.

As you can tell, they are dedicated to games.
