Why do teenagers have unprotected sex... or worse do it beyond the time limit for Morning after pills then ask here could I be pregnant when its too belleding late for a morning after pill.

How thick is that?

Why dont they ask straight away not 2 weeks later when tis too late for anything other then abortion pills or an abortion

And likewise , why is anyone stupid enough not to use injections and the condoms or the pill AND condoms,

pref the cap as well.

Or ask questions like could I get pregnant from...

BEFORE they do it

i get what your saying but i dont think you should tar all teenagers with the same brush! i made my boyfriend...who 6 years later i am still with wait a year and a half before we had sex and even then i made an appointment to go straight on the pill before and use condoms also...i know many people who took such precautions....not all teenagers are the same!

there are some inherited conditions in some families which means that any girl going to ask about contraception should be tested for thinsg such as thrombosis etc; the pill the injection and the coil do not suit everyone, and can cause serious illnesses. you can sometimes be offered a different brand that will not aggravate or cause any illnesses/conditions.
so please dont advocate that anybody can just start taking something without also advising about these issues too. thats very ignorant and irresponsible of you.
i agree that once teens are sexually active they should use contraception of some kind, but doctors need to take more notice of their medical history and be careful what they advise.
as you're not a doctor or qualified sexual health counsellor i think you should do better research before you open your big mouth on all the topics you think you're so knowledgable about, when in fact you give dangerous and ill-thought out advice which could get teens into worse trouble; as you claim to have their best interests at heart, i suggest you get trained before you offer any more advice.
a little knowledge is a dangerous thing.
start thinking.
and get counselling.

YOU WANNA KNOW WHY??? Well me as a teenager know how hard it is to get all the information that you need. Most teenagers are scared to get the pill cuz they believe clinics would not give them to them, or that they will call their parents. I strongly believe that in part it is the teenagers' fault but it is half part of the adults that make sex seem as something so bad and something u shouldn't do. Also STD's dnt only come with teenagers having unproctected sex, many adults get them too and most of them are the ones that have them! So before you start asking why teenagers do this, REMEMBER back in the day how it was when you were a teenager. Remember how hard and embarrising it was to ask an adult for help, not just for you but to your friends too! All of this "cool" birth control things are awsome and I know that us as teenagers are responsable for our own actions but adults shouldnt make it so hard to get them. Some of the this morning after pills are only sold with a prescription and if your over the age of 18 which many TEENAGERS are NOT!! They should make this kinda things available from everyone in case anything goes wrong they can use it! Some teenagers wont learn until they get a hard lesson but we also need more help in our schools; more info, and for adults to make this kind of things like the morning after pill more accesible to teenagers so we can use it in case of an emergency and not as a birth control method

I think you should re-phrase your question to SOME teenagers. Not all teenagers are out having sex and getting pregnant. I think with some it's lack of information. Others it's not being able to talk openly to their parents. Or maybe it's just down to todays society. The 'get pregnant, get a house and have everything paid' scenario springs to mind.

I was brought up being able to approach my mother about anything. I was on birth control at 15 and had sex for the first time at 17, using a condom as well.

I think if teenagers understand that the child is their responsibility, that they have to provide the money to house, clothe and feed them maybe they won't be so quick to jump. But we also have to look closer to home and educate our children about the pitfalls of unprotected sex, STI's and HIV, then maybe teenagers will think twice.

Most kids don't have access to proper education, and even those who do don't have access to condoms, pills, etc. without risking parents finding out. Let me ask you a question, if you have a daughter who is old enough to be sexually active, why have you not taken her to an ob/gyn and gotten her on the pill before this situation arose? And do you have a bag full an indeterminate number of condoms in a closet or easily accessable but not easily monitered place in the house that your children (and hopefully their frineds as well) know about and can access? If you make it as easy for them to make smart choices as it is to make stupid choices, they will make the smart ones. Teenagers feel like they are invinceable, and will behave as such whenever acting practially is more difficult, but if you make the practical choice the simple choice and stigmatize the stupid choice instead of the sexual behavior, they will behave more responsibly when it comes to sex.

Not all girls have unprotected sex, some do yes i agree but not all, and what about the boys that have the same unprotected sex i see nothing is said about them, plus some girls don't even know if the condom split or came off, then there's the lads that still make holes in the condoms so they can then say it ain't mine i used you know i did, what about them.
Some girls don't know where they can get free condoms from and some boys tell the girls lies as to why they cant wear one, a friends daughter came to me the other day and asked me if it'll be ok for her to have unprotected sex with this lad, i asked why unprotected, he's only told her her he cant use them they hurt him, so i told her no way unless you want to get pregnant if not tell him NO GLOVE NO LOVE

I'd say it's due to lack of education as well as the longing for experimentation. Everybody is told they're supposed to use condoms and all that, but I want it differently. I guess that's the best way to put it. Me, I'm 18 and I'll never do anything without a condom and the pill. It's just too dangerous, I don't want my girlfriend to get pregnant or get a disease or something like that.

a lot of us do it because we dont know any better. i know a 15 year old couple who now have a baby but its not because they were careless, its just because they didnt know any better!
my mum has always been VERY open with me (sometimes a little too open) and i would never do anything where there was even the slightest possibility of getting pregnant or getting a disease.
im 15 now and since mum and me have spoken about this kind of thing since i was little i dont feel at all embarassed about asking her stuff. the other day i asked her for a condom so me and my boyfriend could have sex and she gave me 1 because she knows she can trust me to be sensible with that sort of thing.
if everyones parents were that open there wouldnt be such a problem!

I think a LOT of the reason for this (the leaving it too late part)boils down to your relationship you have with your teenager.. It really does make life a whole lot easier by starting to have an open an honest relationship from a younger age... I know it made my teenage years much more enjoyable. and of course sex education especially in this day and age is essential

I will never understand why teenagers that are having sex just don't go and get on birth control. I started having sex when i was 16 but by god i took my ownself to the doctor and got on the depo shot. (I am still with the one i had sex with, we are married with one 5 year old and been together for almost 12 years)

It is so simple to go to the doctor or to the health department to get on birth control but all you hear on here is "oh it will be so embarrassing for a doctor to check you" but when you get pregnant you will be getting checked all the time i mean all the time.

I guess raising a baby is cheaper than a 75 cent condom.
