This is so because when we are asleep we have no recognition of time, our brain is turned off to what is happening around us, other wise we would not be asleep.

if you give up women, drinking, smoking, and drugs, you'll live a long time. But why would you want to?
If you give up women, drinking, smoking, and drugs, you'll become like God, because He does not have
'time restraints,' e.g. Why do women always have to have meals at certain times? That's what causes me
stress! Why can't I eat WHEN I WANT TO? No, I have to WAIT!

Its like anything else you like doing, time flys when you are having fun. Look how time drags in a boring class or when you are in anticipation of something you look forward to doing. But like the other person said, you are probably just on shut down mode for time recognition.
